Peter Moszyk Sr. fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the age of 81. Loving husband of 50 years of the late Regina I. Moszyk (nee Backsmann); dearest father of John A., Peter F., Jr., Paul H. Moszyk and Sabine C. (Matthew) Wyas; dearest Opi of Jessica I. Moszyk and Logan M. Wyas; dear brother of Marianne Rotgerkamp of Germany; dear brother-in-law to Franz(Betty) and Doris Backsmann, uncle, cousin and dear friend to many.
Peter Moszyk was born in Magdeburg, Germany. He lived a very interesting life. He became a cabinetmaker, escaped from East Germany and took a 7-month motor scooter tour from Germany to India and back. When he came back from his tour, he married his childhood sweetheart and immigrated to the United States, where he raised 4 children, had 2 grandchildren, and worked as a cabinetmaker. He was a very talented woodcarver, and his works are displayed in many places around St. Louis and in Germany. He was part of many groups including Stammtisch of St. Louis, Carpenters and Cabinetmakers Union Local 1596, German Cultural Society, Woodcarvers of St. Louis, the Deutscher Mannerchor (German Men’s Choir) and St. Lucas Men’s Club. He will be missed by many.
Funeral Monday, 9:30am from the JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS FUNERAL HOMES, 7027 Gravois, to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church for 10:00am Mass. Interment: Park Lawn Cemetery.
