Everything German in Missouri

Tuesday

Autumn and I are staying with friends, Werner and Elke, who are delightful hosts. We will go to the Exhibit Hall and work for awhile, as it is still a work in progress. I will deliver Norbert’s research from the Saint Charles County Historical Society’s Archives, as he lives in Germany and we wanted to meet. Then today we will go to the City Archives and meet with the Mayor and the Press and share our new book Utopia!
Last evening our friend Ludwig Brake archivist for the City of Giessen took us on a walking tour of the city, and shared some of the oldest remnants of the former Castle and the moat, and the few places that have survived the war. There is one lonely old house, in the midst of new, that is where Goethe liked to visit. Nearby are shops and many restaurants. The City is quite beautiful, I think. It feels a little like home, as it is a University city, with lots of young people.
