Do you ever wonder why Missouri is so German? This month we are taking a look at what makes Missouri so German, then we share several ways to experience the German in Missouri and take a look at how German Missouri is compared to the rest of the U.S.!
Join us for an afternoon of history, wine, and German food! Become a German immigrant on the German Heritage bus tour…
Die Zeitung is Missouri Germans Consortium’s free newsletter, and covers everything German in Missouri.
Missouri is a state rich with German Heritage! From the Maifests to the Oktoberfests, from St. Louis to Concordia, and the wineries that fill the Missouri River valley, we still enjoy many customs and traditions and proudly state “my ancestors came from Germany!”
We will stop in the most famous and historic German place in Missouri (which some called Utopia) – the quaint little Dutzow – where Gottfried Duden wrote the book! There we will have beautiful photo opportunities, learn new things and have a delicious boxed lunch that is incredible. No body goes hungry. While we are there we will have a little wine, and a little music – and Gemütlichkeit.
The Missouri German Consortium is happy to host the upcoming visit of members of the Reisende Sommer Republik from Bremen Germany in September! Please join us at the various activities planned for their visit.
